The Ultrium standard is based on the industry's first open data storage platform, LTO Technology. Drive manufacturers HP, IBM, and Certance developed LTO (Linear Tape-Open) Technology to meet the fast-growing midrange and enterprise storage demands. The result of this collaboration is an exceptionally reliable, high-performance, format with an exciting migration plan that permits consortium drives to work interchangeably with a host of data supplies media brands over time.The Ultrium format is the high-capacity, single-reel implementation, of LTO Technology. It is ideally suited for backup, restore, and archive applications and provides excellent performance and reliability in both stand-alone and automated environments.

Exclusive Imation cartridge features protect your data. Imation's patented corner snap improves cartridge strength by keeping the leader pin in place and the cartridge tightly closed in case of mishandling or shipping disruption. Patented three-piece tape spool aids in tape guidance, distributing stress more evenly over the tape for better performance. Durability enabled by Imation dual layer media using next generation Metal Particulate (MP3) media formulation. Proprietary servo writing method enables state-of-the-art tracking performance and stronger data security. New write protection tab design allows for visual confirmation of write protection status. Also, optimizes tape tracking and helps ensure accurate read/write operations with best-in-class Position Error Signal (PES) performance. Minimizes servo off-track errors and improves overall transfer rates.
